Surfers Paradise

I'm backtracking a bit to fill you in on some pictures from my last weekend in Australia. Louise and I planned a getaway trip to the Gold Coast in Queensland. We had a great hotel with a room on the 18th floor only a few blocks from the beach. I'd say it was about as perfect as a beach could be, and I've never had so much fun swimming in the ocean!

We also went to an amusement park, Dreamworld, for a day. The first stop was the antique cars, complete with steering on the "wrong" side.

The ride below was one of our favourites. It spins around while swinging back and forth.

This rollercoaster was the most unusual I've been on. It was developed so that you really feel like you're riding on a motorcycle.

One of the crazy looking Australian birds.

Louise on a deserted beach. Paradise anyone?
P.S. Athens is great. Today I wandered through the Acropolis and the stadium where the first modern Olympic games were held in 1896. The Acropolis, much more gorgeous than I ever imagined, had a very mythical and mysterious air to it. By the way, my eye is better, and I'm calling the credit card company to advise them of my travels. The bed at my hostel is the most comfortable I've found in my travels so far, and I slept for 12 hours last night. Life is good.
