Santorini Part 2

Here are the last of my Greece pictures. I had the perfect trip, I wouldn't change a thing. I even loved the overcast days! One morning I walked the full length of Oia and stopped for a rest. Can you spot the cat who wandered into my self-timed shot?

Perissa is one of the famed black sand beaches in Santorini (due to the volanic rock). And sure enough, the sand really was black! I spent the morning walking the cost and took a nap in the shade

Gyros for lunch!

I decided to take a chance on the traditional tourist donkey ride up the cliff. I had already spent 20 minutes hiking down when I came across some people on some very stubborn donkeys. You know in the amazing race when the one team always gets the donkey that won't move no matter what they do? I always had the suspicion that it would happen to me. I started to get worried, but there was no way I was walking back up, and it's important to do things that scare you. I didn't need to worry, for some reason the guy led me and another woman on her own (so the three donkeys were tied together and he made sure they kept moving). Whew! I was able to enjoy the view and try to balance. Donkey riding up a hill is anything but graceful.

I even had time for a self portrait en route.

I got back to my town of Oia in time to stake out a spot to watch the sunset. The dogs seemed to be there for the same reason!

There were dogs and cats everywhere in Santorini. Thankfully they were all really well behaved, clean and sweet.

The sunset.

I walked back through the shops of the city (I lovely jewelry shops, even if I can't afford anything) and met a new friend from Japan at the hostel patio.
