The Races

One of the last weekends I was in Sydney was the famous Golden Slipper Race day at Rosehill Gardens. Louise had told me how fun it was to go to the races, and we figured it was worth the entry price for a day of excitement.Plus, we got to get all dressed up! And most of the women were wearing hats or fascinators with beautiful dresses, and the men were all in smart suits. I decided it might very well be my only opportunity to wear a feathery fascinator, and I found a great one on sale (I wouldn't want to spend a fortune on a hat I'm wearing once!)
It looks a bit silly, I know.
It was very crowded with long lines for everything (especially the ladies washrooms!) But we could go down right to the fences to watch the races. The races were about 45 minutes apart, and we saw seven races. We missed the big race though, we had gotten separated and were wandering inside trying to find each other. Oh well, I picked the winner anyway!
My outfit!

Read or Post a Comment

Two things.
1. I am so happy to be able to read your blog and comment on it. However, I know the joy will be short-lived. Such is vacation.
2. Love the fascinator. Silly, yes, but highly rewearable - think Halloween. And I'm glad to see that skirt is still in our collective closet. Here's hoping you didn't leave it in Australia!
